Jabra's Elite 65t have been some of the best true wireless earbuds you could buy since their introduction last year. They don't have the best sound quality, but overall, the company assembled a compelling package that costs significantly less than a lot of the competition's. Now Jabra is hoping lightning strikes twice. The new model is smaller, lasts longer and adds a lot of handy features, but is it better than last year's surprise superstar?

The most obvious difference between the Elite 75t and the Elite 65t is size. Even the new charging case is significantly smaller than the old model's. The top and bottom are also flat, so the case stands on its own when you open it. As someone who tests a lot of earbuds with cases that flop over, it's a nice touch.

This means when you close the case, you have to spin it around for a battery status update. It's great that it's there, but it would be much better if it was around front, where the case opens. The earbuds themselves are also drastically smaller. Jabra says they're 20 percent smaller overall, but when you do a side-by-side comparison, it seems like there's an even bigger change.

The armlike extensions that pointed down toward your face on the Elite 65t are gone. Instead, Jabra opted for a tiny triangular elbow to house the microphones. The main earbud housing is also a lot smaller but remains nearly as deep.

Basically, despite a reduced diameter, the buds themselves still stick out of your ears a similar amount. Not having that mic extending down makes a big difference though. You can feel it clearly when you're wearing them. In short: The 75t buds are much comfier. The Elite 75t is IP55 rated, so you can be confident when you wear these to the gym. Jabra has also thrown in a two-year warranty against dust and water damage low-pressure, sustained sprayso if something does go wrong that's within the confines of "regular" use, you should be covered.

There are still onboard controls, even with smaller earbuds, but now there's only one button on each side. On the left, you press and hold to turn the volume down and single press to turn HearThrough transparency mode on or off.Which set of buds is right for you?

From design and setup to audio quality and battery life, we've compared these two heavy hitters to find out which set of buds reigns supreme. The AirPods retain the polarizing-yet-iconic shape of their predecessor, the EarPods, while ditching the cord. The result is a pair of blindingly white buds weirdly hanging out and down the sides of your earlobe.

The Elite 65t buds offer a more elegant design that draws from Jabra's extensive history making mono Bluetooth headsets. The titanium-gray plastic buds sit serenely in your ears, with the tiny arms facing toward your face when properly positioned.

The multifunction buttons on each bud are demarcated by the Jabra logo in the center. But the Jabra earbuds don't just look good; they can take a bit of a beating as well. The Elite 65t has an IP55 rating that signifies its water-and-dust resistance. If that weren't enough, the buds also have a two-year warranty for that type of damage. The AirPods, by contrast, aren't water-resistant. That durability makes for a somewhat bulkier earbud. In the case of the Elite 65t, the right bud weighs a smidgen more than its counterpart, at 0.

The AirPods are noticeably lighter, at 0. The AirPods are the easiest headphones to pair with your mobile device or laptop, especially if you have a Apple device that's running iOS 10 or later, watchOS 3 or macOS Sierra or higher.

As soon as you open the lid on the charging case, your iPhone will flash a message saying the buds are connected. If you're using an older device or an Android one, they pair much as you'd expect for any Bluetooth device.

After you press the small button on the back of the AirPods' charging case, a light will start glowing, signaling it's time to search your phone's Bluetooth menu to connect. It's still pretty fast but not as slick as opening a lid and achieving near-instantaneous pairing. For its part, pairing the Elite 65t to a Bluetooth device is pretty straightforward. After you press the multifunction button on both buds for 3 seconds, they power on and connect to each other. From there, you can connect to your phone, laptop or tablet in your phone's Bluetooth menu.

One set of earbuds wants you to tap, while the other wants you to press. You control the AirPods via a series of well-timed taps on either bud. A quick double-tap will summon Siri, which you can direct to skip tracks, play specific songs and ask about the weather. It's cool in theory, but I often found myself tapping everywhere but in the right spot to get Siri to respond. I could have been jamming during that time if I had just used my phone as a control.

Most of the functionality of the Elite 65t is accessed via the multifunction buttons on each side. Jabra wisely split up control duties between the two buds, with the left controlling volume and track changes and the right handling the functions of answering and ending calls, playing and pausing, and queuing up the digital assistant of your choice.

Changing tracks calls for a long press on the front and rear notches of the left earbud. That added pressure can be a bit uncomfortable on the folds of your inner ear, but the quick taps are fine. The software also keeps track of the buds' remaining battery life. Voice Assistant lets you choose which digital assistant you want the buds to summon based on the phone you own.

Jabra Elite 75t review: The leap from good to great

So if you're using an iPhone, you can access Siri, and depending on the Android phone, you can toggle between Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby. No matter which device you use, there's an option to access Amazon Alexa, too. HearThrough allows you to decide just how much ambient noise you wish to let into the buds, if any at all. You can also tweak the frequency setting in the Equalizer and adjust how loud your voice sounds during a call so that you're not speaking louder than normal.

The buds also have integrated sensors that automatically pause whatever you're listening to when you remove a bud. However, you can't program them to switch to mono so you can share the tuneage with a friend. If you lose a bud, you're going to be frantically scouring the ground, instead of ringing an alarm to track down your wayward bud as you can with the AirPods.Jabra is very well known for making some of the best true wireless earbuds on the market since they've launched the Jabra Elite 65t model last year, and now, in they made it again with the Jabra Elite Active 75t which are some of the best pair of wireless earbuds available at this date in time.

This review will focus mainly on the Jabra Elite Active 75t but, but we will compare them to the simple Elite model along the way. From the beginning, we want to point out that there are only two differences that may affect your purchase decision and both regarding your lifestyle.

Since last year Jabra spent a lot of time resizing the Jabra Elite series, managing to make them smaller and most importantly much more comfortable. We love to see that unlike other brands the Jabra Elite Active 75t does not stick out of your ears. These wireless earbuds were designed to fit perfectly anyone's ears creating a perfect seal for amazing noise isolation.

Also, thanks to a special grip coating the fit is extremely secure, they stay firmly in place and even during the most intensive workouts the seal won't break. They are very comfortable thanks to the fact that the buttons are extremely responsive and that they weigh only 5. The build quality of these true wireless earbuds is more than great. The materials are very well chosen, making them look and feel really premium. But here comes one of the differences between the simple and the sports model we were talking about in the beginning.

While the Jabra Elite Active 75ts are coated in a special grip coating that feels like premium rubberized plastic both on the earbuds and the casemaking them more secure for those who have an "active" lifestyle, the simple Elite model lacks this coating but they are still very secure so no worries about that.

Furthermore, the Jabra Elite Active 75t are fully waterproof, and dustproof featuring an IPX7 rating so they can be submerged for 30 minutes in water up to 3 meters without any problem. And here is the second difference between the simple Elite and the Active model.

The Elite 75ts only feature IPX5 rating, they are still water-resistant managing to handle low water get sprays and sweatproof. That's it for the differences between the two models because we are getting into the performance part of this review where both are exactly the same. This is the area that blew us away the most. These true wireless earbuds sound amazing, they offer all you could ever want from wireless earbuds in terms of highs, mids, and they are loud, crisp and clear.

Also, the base is pronounced and powerful. The noise isolation is highly effective, maybe some of the best we have seen, but in case you want to be aware of your surroundings you can enable the hear trough feature just by taping one of the earbuds. It is worth mentioning that the hear trough level can also be adjusted inside the app. The Jabra Elite Active 75ts are equipped with 4 microphones allowing for great active noise isolation and amazing call quality.

They make a really great job at lowering the background noise and isolating your voice during calls so you don't have to talk louder, scream or anything like that.

We love to see that Jabra Elite Active 75t brings all the controls you need at your fingertips so you don't need to get your phone out of your pocket.

There are a total of 18 different commands that can be done by touching the earbuds, from basic volume controls, skipping tracks and voice assistant activation to even switching off the microphone during a call. Moreover, the earbuds will automatically pause the music if you take one bud out and they feature mono mode, but keep in mind that only the right earbud can be used for that. Like most of the true wireless earbuds that have been launched this year, the Jabra Elite Active 75t are equipped with Bluetooth 5.

Also, the earbuds can be paired with up to 8 devices and can be connected with two at the same time. The Jabra Elite 65t is a perfect balance of usability, features, and sound quality. Its design and fit aren't perfect, but the Jabra Elite 65t do so much right that we can forgive its minor issues.

Plus, they sound great compared to the competition. The Jabra Elite 65t offer a mature design, excellent battery life, balanced sound, and most importantly, reliability. The Jabra Elite 65t were released back on March 28, and were quickly recognized as one of the best true wireless headphones on the market, despite costing a bit more than the competition. Unfortunately Australia doesn't get much of a discount on these. The earbuds and charging case are made entirely out of plastic but the headphones still manage to feel like a premium product.

The earbuds themselves feature a nice soft touch plastic that makes them feel comfortable even during extended periods. There are perforations in the earbuds which allow the various mics to pick up your voice for calls but also to allow outside sound to be mixed with your music.

If you're wondering how to control the music, each earbud houses a different set of controls. The left earbud features a rocker for adjusting volume and a long press allows you to skip or go to a previous track. It also doubles as a power button with a long press. To charge the headphones, all you'll need to do is put them back in the charging case, which is quite compact and is about the same size as the Apple AirPods case.

It features a microUSB charging port which is annoying as most laptops and phones today use USB-C and is, strangely, a bit slippery to hold. We hope Jabra makes the earbuds and case magnetic in future versions to make inserting the earbuds in the case easier.

Using the Jabra Elite 65t is a pleasure. The earbuds automatically turn on when removed from the case, which not all truly wireless earbuds do.

The earbuds also turn themselves off when placed back in the charging case - a huge benefit for folks who forget to turn off electronics when they're done using them. Wireless performance is excellent.

The headphones connected to our phone immediately and rarely stuttered. You can use one earbud at a time, though note that the right earbud acts as the master so use it when you want to take calls with a single earbud. Sound quality, similarly, is excellent - it's balanced with as slightly warm tilt. This means bass has good impact and extension. For commuters, there are even more benefits. Its Elite Sport ultimately came in two variants, the second of which was available in a different colour and featured improved battery life.

These latest two models go beyond that to improve performance in the most important aspects. As much as Jabra has tried to make its products conducive to active users, it has also pursued a level of audio fidelity that would set the tone for others.

These two models present a valiant effort in that regard, making them worth serious consideration. The base design for both is essentially the same, but subtle differences do make them unique from one another.

The Active 65t has a more rubberized body for increased friction to keep them in place when sweating. In practical terms, it means the Active is more resistant to sweat, which can be important later on.

The Elite Sport has an IP67 rating that makes that pair water resistant, on top of the sweat resistance. And finally, its case has quick charging, letting you get 90 minutes of use after only 15 minutes of charging.

Beyond that, there is little to differentiate the two. They have the same accessories and come in almost identical packaging. There are only three sets of gels for each unit, in stark contrast to the array of gels, tips and wings on the Elite Sport.

It took Jabra a few attempts, but this is easily the best overall design the company has produced for a true wireless set of earbuds. Firmware updates also route through the app, and you would need to register the earbuds on the app to qualify for the warranty. Pairing via Bluetooth was easy. Either unit will go into pairing mode right out of the box. Thereafter, every time you take them out of their case, they immediately connect.

The AirPods are quicker to pair with an iPhone initially, but are not that different when it comes to maintaining the connection, otherwise. Updating the firmware through the app is simple to do and no longer requires the tedious process of downloading files to install on a computer. When it comes to fit, Jabra got it right. They are bulky, but the contours and angling made these fit so well that I had excellent noise isolation.

Since this could be problematic when out on the street, there is HearThrough mode available to toggle on the app, including a slider to adjust how porous the mode should be.

That allows ambient noise to filter through, which can also be useful if you need to talk to someone without taking them off. The button on the right side can play or pause music or answer and end a call with a single press. A double-press rejects an incoming call or, as noted, turns HearThrough on or off. The left side has two tiny buttons for volume up or down. Holding either one for two seconds skips or repeats a track. This site uses cookies to help personalise content, tailor your experience and to keep you logged in if you register.
